Pete Doherty - who I have no time for, and I agree with Mitch Winehouse IS a scumbag, is no different to Amy Winehouse in an overall sense.
Amy's man is in jail for perverting the course of justice over an assault (also a scumbag), and Winehouse 'battling' her own addictions like Doherty is paying his £300k bail.
So why, do I ask, does Amy's father think Doherty is a scumbag? From where im standing, they are 2 peas in a pod if you ask me.

Agreed, but a father isn't going to brand his own daughter a scumbag and nor should he. But he probably knows that everyone else feels that way. Doherty is in a league of his own though.

It's true, they are basically in the same, sinking, boat, but you have to look at it from her father's eyes, this is her daughter and he is bound to try and think the best of her no matter what, even if it means being blind to the fact that she, too, may be as bad as Doherty, and doing what she does of her own free will. So, no, it's not fair, but you have to look at it from his perspective.

Your absolutely right, however you must now see he has no control over his daughter's life style and she is very much influenced by the people that she chooses to surround herself with. She needs a wake up call, but I don't think it's her father that going to give it to her. She was probably a sweet innocent girl at one point, her father must be very frustrated at her choices.

All parents will defend their children and if they turn out bad they will look for someone to blame , no parent wants to believe their child is a mess and he probably also feels that he is responsible in some way and tries desperately to shift blame to someone else, it is a completely natural and understandable reaction

That's why they both got married. They were made for each other.

Her father is a hypocrite of course, trying to judge someone who's as screwed up as his daughter is.
