Recruiter in the Military. Going through a divorce at this time, as expected, the wife is unhappy about it. He has been supporting her for 7 years. She hasn't had to work, or do anything for 7 years. Now that he is getting serious about the divorce, and told her he is going to move out, she gets angry and calls his Commanding Officer and whines and complains to him. There is really nothing the CO can do, other than get extremely frustrated with her, which in turns goes to him. His CO said that he has to keep the peace with her until his Recruiting time is done (10 months) or else his career hurts from it. As in, stay with her or you're fired. Now, what in the world does he do in this situation. He can't stand the woman to stay with her, but if he doesn't then he loses his job. She really has him right where she wants him. Can the CO fire him because of his wife annoying him? Thank you

Sadly the CO can do what ever he wants, he's in charge......the recruiter should contact his legal office at a near by base and find out what legal actions he can take. He needs to be careful because she can take it even further and falsely accuse him of domestic abuse or worst. He can always contact Military One Source...........its a free service for active duty members from all the branches .........they can pretty much help in regards to any life event.

Have you ever thought of going to IG for advise? Many women married to military men think they can abuse the system when a divorce is pending. However, its your career. I would consider getting legal advise to protect yourself from her trying to make waves with your CO. At least, the CO will not take more phone calls or give you the boot. Good Luck.

i dont know much about how the military handles divorce but cant you get an order of harassment against her. With the testimony or an affidavit from your CO, would you beable to get her to stop calling "your boss", because he has stated it is jeopardizing you job.

Have you already filed your papers for divorce, or atleast talked to an attorney. Do that asap and weigh your options. There is always an way out, legally.

No, but he can sure make your lfe miserable!! Try marriage counseling first. Even if you don't stay together, she will feel better about herself, making it easier for her to let you go.
