why people in america or other countries think that people in gulf region like UAE or saudi arabia live in tents and ride camels ? while the truth is they are modern countries with very fancy life style

Because most Americans don't travel and have no interest in what goes on in the rest of the world.
It's precisely their ignorant and ill-informed attitude that leads to their willingness to attack other countries - would they have been so keen to attack Iraq had they known it was a country of great culture with an extremely well-educated society?

That comes as a surprise to me, an American, who keeps up on the news. No one I know believes that all Arabs live in tents and ride camels. But, face it, some do. Perhaps some of us (not me) think that visions of Arabs living in tents & traveling by camel is romantic .... sort of the Arabic version of America's cowboys living on the trail herding steer.

I've been there and yes there are many buildings either homes or apartments and very nice ones to boot. I blame television and movies which show more nomadic life which people do live in tents however they are more prominent in countries like Jordan or in Africa with the Sahara.
