I've heard of this but I've never experienced it with my own eyes until today!
I'm sat here in my loung, I watched the postie come to the door and go back out the garden. I checked the mail 3 minutes later to find a 'sorry you were out' card!
I'm so not out!
If for whatever reason I don't hear the postie he opens the door and drops the parcels in! I order a lot on line and he knows me so doesn't mind doing this - it's easier for me and him!
This was a different postie today.
I'm really angry becuase I'm going to struggle to get to the sorting office before Christmas.
I phoned them but he was nothing short of useless - I asked if I should get in my car and catch up with the postie to get the item he supposodly wasn't able to get through my letter box but he told me that wasn't advisable!!!!

I didn't go to the door becuase all he done was pop letters through - I don't tend to pounce on my mail as there is nothing exciting! He obviously doesn't even have the parcel on him!

LOL!!
I don't have a problem with my mail but, my postman is wearing shorts. In this weather too.
Surely he must have been dared to do that.:0)
I hope your trouble gets sorted soon though.

This has happened to me but fortunately not as often as you have experienced it. I have seen the post man coming, started walking to the door whilst expecting the doorbell to ring and then I hear the van driving off and there is that wretched little card, sorry you were out Grrr!! You can't go and collect it yourself either until 24 hours have passed and then in my case it's a 3 mile drive to the sorting office. Soo not funny. It has only happened when it has been a new or covering post person. You could try lying in wait and talk to the postie next time they come and try to establish a friendly rapport in the hope they will reciprocate. You can't prove they didn't bother to ring the doorbell even though you know darn well they didn't. My helpful regular postie told me it was troublesome having to take the package back. Next time you are expecting a parcel pop out and tell the postie and tell them you will be in - maybe that will help. Otherwise you could fix a parcel/post collection box outside but that costs money you shouldn't have to spend.

It's happened to me before and when I was speaking to some posties in a pub near me they told me that it was quite common to leave the parcels at the depot and just post a 'Sorry we missed you card' so that they didn't have to take the chance of lugging a parcel around for their whole round.
Lazy feckers!

LOL That is awful! I often chase mine, it infuriates me when they post 3 letters with my correct address then throw in a couple from the next street for good measure!
I asked last time if he could even read. His answer was it was the fault of the sorting office! How come? Surely they should have a glance. They are a bit lame lately.

Don't get me started. Before the recent strike my mail arrived at 9am, it now arrives between 12 & 1.00. Not only that but our mail isn't always posted in our letter boxes, just left in the hallway where anybody coming through the front door can go riffle through it.

You know what I don't get? The whole registered delivery thing. Basically, they're saying "if you want us to do the job we're paid for, it'll cost you the price of a stamp. BUT, if you want US not to steal YOUR mail on the way, you're going to have to pay us extra for it."
Now, I'm not that up on the inner workings of the Cosa Nostra, but that sounds like a protection racket to me.

So it seems as if the postmen are not taking the parcels out to deliver but keeping them at the sorting office to save them carrying them.Unbelievable.

this has happened to me so many times, I caught one doing it once and chased him down the road in my PJ's, another time I called the post office and they called the postie on her mobile and told her to come back.
I would make a complaint if I was you, they take the p!ss all the time.

That's happened to me quite a few times. Simply because the postman can't be arsed, a lot of private couriers do it as well.
They do it to get their round done quicker. They know they wont be sacked for it, because if you complain, it's your word against theirs.
