Why was computer game Manhunt 2 banned?

Why was computer game Manhunt 2 banned by the British censors? It is not exceptionally violent, is it? In fact, it looks just like any ordinary movie and it looks exciting.

So why did the British Board of Film Classification choose to ban it?

Please, is it really violent? It is just a game, isn't it?

This game was banned mainly because of the manner of violence. It is not just gore and blood that define the maturity of a game, but rather how violence, language, or anything that could be considered crude is construed.
In this particular game, you are practically playing a snuff film, where a director sets you up in situations where you have to find clever ways to kill people. This is why it is getting banned, because to the British government this could be seen as a training tool for murder.
Regardless of ESRB, these games WILL get into the hands of underage children, and they WILL be affected in some way.
So, in summary, the British government does not want a game like Manhunt 2 to be played in Britain, or sold, for the simple fact that the manner of gameplay, and the goals, are disturbing and dangerous in the hands of the minds that can be molded.

The first one was banned here as well, but only after it had already been released and sold in shops for ages censureship gone bad , but on the other hand alot of young kids end up playing these games . Is it violent? hell yeah has a few diff ways to knock off enemy like suffocation with high gore levels u dont usually see on other games

i don't think a game will make anyone more likely to do anything that they weren't already likely to do and i like violent games as much as the next guy but a line has to drawn every once in awhile.
