Do you tend to stay with what's safe & familiar or take a risk and go out on a limb...?

It can be a little scary but very rewarding...

It's all new to me but I'm going to dare to put myself out there...

I've changed my avatar (from the little red-haired cartoon version of me to a real photo), did a 360 page and I'll be posting my music soon on myspace, artwork on ebay etc...and maybe I'll check out this facebook everyone's been talking about...

Finally entering the 21st century...tee hee...

Goodnight...
:)

Yep. I've been going out on a limb for about six or seven years now and man is it scary sometimes!
My comfort zone ranges from the abnormal to the dismally normal. But I like to have some fun with my life and a little adventure where I am because I don't have the money to go gallivanting around the globe like I want to.
So I race myself to the next challenge where I am. And right now I'm in a city with a small town attitude and a bunch of village idiots running city council.
Thank God for my talent otherwise I'd be lost.
Looking forward to seeing, and listening to your arts.

I am 42 years old and often asked myself the same question, and can only come up with a comfort zone is the culmination of our experiences good or bad. The more experiences we have the more our comfort zone will increase. Now our willingness to add a bit of rum to the cake or sugar to that recipe may vary, but all in all the temptation to try something new will win, in other words as humans curiosity will kill the cat, and the rum does taste better in that cake than apple juice may. Therefore trying to increase your comfort zone, one thing at a time and see the myriad of pleasurable experiences large and small one may find. The alternative is to live in a world filled with fear of the unknown and the dark becomes less comfortable day by day. This alone on a snowy winter day can ensure I am willing to leave that comfort zone, besides am out of cake again....wonderful question, Jerrod

Earlier it was easy to walk out of the Comfort Zone without thinking much. Sort of a blind jumping with just courage, faith and confidence into utter confusions.

Now perhaps bit more cautious and watchful before leaving the Comfort Zone. But still if the risk is felt to be worth taking a step into, definitely shall, but only after weighing almost all possible options seeming to be known before....

I do. I leave Orange County, drive to downtown LA, and walk around, absorb the atmosphere, and talk to people. Being a photographer helps break the ice. I step outside the norm and try new things, meet new people, eat cultural foods--it's an experience. I've been to Burning Man, that is way out there, and I'm not just talking physical distance. All of these things in and of themselves don't change my life, but they help me appreciate it all the more. The grass isn't greener on the other side, just different.

I like to take risk, but calculated risk.
If we always stay with the comfortable part, then there will not be any learning. People who need to improve them self need to take some risk. Let each failure be a positive record in which we will know that how the thing can not be done.

We are strange creatures.... we stay in comfort zone and avoid changes due to the risks perceived... and yet soon we get uncomfortable in our comfort zone because we begin to aim higher rather than status quo... it is then that we decide to cross the perceived comfort zone and get ready to risk changes in order to move up..... a step change occurs and once again we want to get into our shell to feel comfortable in the new situation....... this oscillation between fearing change and seeking change is what life is all about.

In fact your new avatar did confuse me having been used to seeing the previous flashy one. Congratulations for the 'move up' you have embraced.

A long time ago my comfort zone became a miserable prison. Finally fear of the unknown was a welcome relief to the place I had called home. I have found that in that next blind leap of faith I always find a greater understanding & ultimately some measure of Peace.
Blessings.

Nope...I'm too shy. It would take me a long time to build up the courage. But eventually I plan on leaving my comfort zone.
