You should be able to return it provided you have the receipt. Most retail stores are willing to take back defective items. I would also check the receipt for the return policy and see if there is something explicitly said regarding defective items. It's in the best interest of the store to keep the customer satisfied and it can't hurt to try. I'm almost positive they'll either issue a refund or allow you to exchange it for either another coat or for other merchandise. Good luck!

Definitely you can return it. So long as it's been less than 30 days and you still have the receipt. To pay it safe, I would string the tag back on it (if you still have it) and say that you just got this and didn't notice the rip in the back. OR you can just not bring any attention to it and fold it up and present it back to them. They MIGHT see the rip though in which case you better have a story ready like "yes. This is why I'm returning it. It is defective."

hi,
there shouldn't be a problem for you to return it and exchange it for something else. Say it was a present and bring your receipt with you as you should have cut your price tag.... the policy of exchange should be written at the back of your receipt, usually they don't want to loose a customer so they will exchange it for you.but i don't think they can give you a full refund...it depends where you bought the coat. If the sales advisor doesn't know ask directly to speack with a manager.
Good luck!

lf it was brought in a sale should have faulty on coat otherwise goods are to be in perfect condition you have a couple of options
1 make out you have never worn the coat and couldn't get back to shop before today ie illness
2 tell shop the reason for returning coat was because it is faulty
lf you still have price tag attach it to coat or take it with you with receipt and be polite shouting won't get you anywhere

you can't return it if:

the fault was obvious and it would have been reasonable to have noticed it on examination before buying.

If you caused any damage yourself.

What are you entitled to ask for?

If the goods are faulty at the time of sale, (which it sounds as though it was) you are legally entitled to request one of the following remedies:
1) A full refund
2) Compensation (damages)
3) Repair or replacement
4) Rescission or reduction in price

Yes you should be able to. If not, speak to the boss. You've got nothing to lose.

Apparently, the customer is always right, so they should take your word for it and take it back for a full refund.

Try and take it back. What is the worst that could happen?
