No I DON'T need to "rephrase" my question. My question is pretty direct. I wanted to know if it was safe, so that's that I asked.

It'll be loud as hell, and the lack of back pressure will reduce torque, and he'll need a high flow intake to keep up with the exaust, and I don't think he'd be 'street legal' anywhere

Safe in what regard?

Some engines can take open headers and some will get damage to their exhaust valve.

Is there a reason he wants to run open headers besides making it super loud?

You can also have problems with exhaust gases getting into the cabin of the vehicle. People have died from this before.

Safe? The motor may run a bit warmer but not dangerously so. The bigger concern is with sound and legality. It won't be safe to drive it on the street without getting a ticket.

Best thing, rephrase your question and try again.

It is probably against the law. Engines are designed to work efficiently with a certain amount of exhaust back pressure. Open headers have very little back pressure and the engine will need to be tuned/modified to compensate for the loss of back pressure.

Safe? What do you mean by safe? Of course it's not safe to discharge exhaust in the front of your vehicle. You're not supposed to care about that.
