I certanly don't adone slavery, especially as a black woman, but I wonder if I would be a U.S. citizen today if it hadn't been for slavery. Opinions?

There would be African Americans because I am sure some African people would have moved here voluntarily over the years and their children would be African-American

the way i think of it is that there are many diffrent ways to put that in. if slavery never happened then i believe that Africans wouldn't have arrived in America until the 1900's when immigrants started pouring into America. but the downside to that is Africans might not have been accepted in America due to how most Americans in early 1900's basicly thought white ppl have superiority as some think now. but b/c of slavery, Africans became African-Americans when a law passed out.

There are lots of people of African origin where I live, who came here voluntarily - mostly Somali, Liberian and Kenyan - here in Minnesota - but there are also a good number of African-Americans from the South here, too. (mostly via Chicago).

Diversity is our nation's strength.

Quite likely... We've got Asian Americans, Mexican Americans, Canadian Americans, German Americans, Italian Americans, etc etc etc... Why not African Americans?

their would be african americans cuz some would prolly come here on their own free will and they had to call they kids summin if then they were born here you feel me?
