Your question is a little hard to answer not knowing exactly what's bothering you. Different situations call for different solutions But here are my thoughts;
In my experience I can't take my mind off of a problem until I've dealt with the problem directly.
I can do other things well enough but I can't erase a problem until it's resolved.
My theory is take one day at a time...do the best you possibly can for this day...face the problem.

If something is bothering me I want to ignore it the best way to deal with it is to take your mind of it by doing something else. You need to keep busy and basically do fun things.

Go into the kitchen and bake some cheese muffins. While baking the muffins say to yourself "I will not think about XXXX" over and over.
By the time you've baked 3 or 4 dozen muffins you'll be sick and tired of the problem and forget all about it.

I think you're supposed to think about something else that bothers you even more so you forget all about the first thing that was bothering you.
