Traffic, Construction, Houston.

The plan is to for both cars to leave New Orleans with a full tank of gas at 8 a.m. - I don't know how bad traffic is on I-10 around Lafayette and Houston (assuming I get to houston around noonish). I would like to obey all speed limits and laws.

I like that last sentence "I would like to obey all speed limits and laws"....yeah, right! Who you fooling???

Your "Cannonball Run idea is rather humorous, to say the least. You'll find traffic congestion between NOLA and Baton Rouge along I-10 and I-12.

And West of Baton Rouge, you'll likely find some tempting long stretches along the Atchafalaya Basin bridge, given you elude the State Trooper air patrols and high tech laser speed detection gear (which is cleverly well hidden).

In Louisiana, the rule of thumb: If it looks tempting to race down the road--it's monitored by Louisiana State Police ( LSP ). In Texas: you DON'T want to get pulled over by a Texas Ranger ( Don't Mess With Texas, pardner!!)--where that state's traffic fines are some of the highest in the U.S.

Happy Motoring!! Y'all come on back now, y' hear?
