Why do so many of you judge people who have State Aid, without knowing the siuation?Yes, there are alot of people who abuse it,but theres also alot who dont, and honestly need temporary help because of hard times.I want to know because I have gotten alot of ignorant comments from people. And automatically people say, Im paying for it,they are taking my tax dollars.Thats not always the case.I was about 8 months pregnant when my husband fractured his skull, broke his collarbone, had internal bleeding, and a fractued sternum from an accident. We had no choice, but to get all the State Aid we could.I worked 8-10 hours everyday until my water ruptured with one breal on my feet all day long. Before the accident my husband worked 60 hours a week doing construction. He just went back to work, now working 60-70 hours a week.Even with the aid,we lost just about everything because of an accident, not because we were looking for a free handout. We both bust our butts at work, and have paid well into it.

I was 8 months pregnant when this happend, and we have a 9 year old daughter. I am so sick of hearing people say they pay for it, that people that need help are only looking for a free handout.I am sick of ignorant comments from people, and the rude looks I have gotten from using my WIC cards or link card. Why do you people automatically judge, without knowing the siuation.I had a lady make a rude comment to me in the store, I looked at her and said, well for your information. I am due in 2 weeks, my husband is in the hospital with a fractured skull, broken collarbone, fractured sternum, and internal bleeding.I think she kind of felt bad after. But why do people make rude comments about it, if they dont know the situation. They have no idea what happend to those people, like me and my husband. He had a tragic accident. I hated being on State Aid, but hate it even more than there are so many close minded people that judge before understanding. Why do they do this??

We tried to get disability, you can only get it if you are off work for 1 year. He was only off for 7 months.

I live in Australia and a lot of people here who get welfare are lazy no good drug addled never look after their kids, have more kids to get more money so they never have to work people. That being said there are many more who are on welfare who desperately needs it and their kids are well looked after, well dressed and the people on welfare will get a job, any job to get off welfare. You luckily are one of those people. But humans as a population are sheep and think one thought in general......"if you weren't on welfare then I wouldn't be paying for your kids and your alcohol" etc etc. I don't think you had to defend yourself against "people" seeing as it was a horrible accident that got you in that position and I have no doubt you both are still paying for what happened (with bills, food, Christmas etc). You did what you needed to do and you survived, so what if state Aid helped, both of you are back doing it for yourself now and nobody would look twice at either of you anymore.

i was on wic myself, i got dirty looks too, i figure i payed taxes i am going to get some back. People don't take a step back and look at the whole picture, and that is sad. I do know a couple that is also on state aid, and everything else under the sun, some of the help they need, due to having special needs children, but the other things they don't need. People have a choice in the matter of the kinda of life they want. If they want to use and abuse the system, or use it when they need it. I am one of those people that does look down on people that are on state aid, but it's because the people i know don't really need to be on it, considering both of them are more than able to work. In whole the problem i think is that people with come up with alot of excuse's to get free hand outs, they can change things, but you can't help people that don't want help. Try not to let peoples comments take diggers out of you life is not fair in general.

Because of learned stereo-typing. The only news that most people hear is how the State Aide Systems are over-budget and abused. They also hear how it is part of the "tax" system that we all pay into (including those who were working before needing assistance). What they do not hear is how the programs help people temporarily until a time they can get back on their feet. They do not hear about the people who could really use it and cannot obtain it because of the few who abuse the system. All they hear is the abuse and how it is costing them. And, if it reported on the news, it HAS to be the way things are, right??

I am sorry you have to defend yourself to so many ignorant people. If they could only see the good of the programs, instead of hanging on to what is bad......

They automatically judge you harshly because of the majority of aid recipients are those who have made bad choices or who are just plain lazy. Those few such as you, those who have had an accident or other unforeseeable calamity are the minority. I believe that the majority of people out there are sympathetic to some degree to those that have paid into the system but now need some temporary help.

I am sympathetic but I wonder why you did not have disability insurance?

You are not alone. Americans seem to love to judge other people, it must be their christian upbringing. I think people especially like it when they judge other people as less than themselves. But many are as bad with rich people also. Look at all the negative publicity celebrities have to endure. Next time, if you ever get in that situation again say "You pray that they are never as unfortunate as you are right then"

i'm sorry approximately what surpassed off on your husband. yet approximately your question...there are maximum of stereotypes in this international. people look to have self assurance that all of us on help are those that don't decide on extra for themselves, losers, lazy, etc. it incredibly is the those that are like that that makes all of us think of that way. people in simple terms become tired of seeing families that have been on help for years and nevertheless having extra teenagers. it incredibly is totally incorrect for those judgmental people to think of this sort except they actually understand the situations in the back of it. My boyfriends terrific pal is a sort of those that has 6 teenagers and that i swear has not worked extra effective than 6 finished months in his entier person existence. His female pal in simple terms had yet another toddler, and as quickly as we asked them how are they going to deal with to pay for yet another toddler while they'd't cope with to pay for the youngsters they have now, Thier responce became into...we are able to get $two hundred money extra now. it incredibly is people like them that make others think of so undesirable approximately some thing this is so good.
