because politicians needed pot to be illegal, so they spread propoganda, like Reefer Madness, a movie that completely portrayed pot as something as bad as heroin. Ever since then generations have held the reputation of pot, or a pothead, very low.
Alcohol is WAY more dangerous and addictive than pot.
It is wrong- and someday it will change

It is still an illegal substance because its classified as a Schedule I controlled meaning it has no medicinal purpose. The government consists of very sophisticated and inconspicuous pimps that need taxation on such a lucrative endeavor. Because its a Schedule I, public support could swing in favor of making it legal for controlled purposes if put to a balot, but it would be very hard for the pimps-at-be to convince us that we should move marijuana from a Schedule I to a taxed U.S. good. Heh.

It was made illegal many years ago in most countries. Perhaps with good reason. In the last two years more than 35 studies in the UK have found a direct correlation between moderate to frequent marijuana use and adult onset schizophrenia. It appears that the old urban legend of " reefer madness" is true after all.

Because the goverment doesn't get taxes on it like they do cigerettes and alcohol. I believe it would help a lot of people better than some of the narcotic meds but because of the people who abuse it, it can't be used by those who need it. And, no, I have never smoked a joint but if it were legal and I could afford it, I would as a pain killer.

One reason is that it continues to be misclassified as a Schedule I controlled substance, meaning the FDA considers it not to have any therapeutic or medicinal value.

Another reason is the movie "Reefer Madness."

California and a few other states allow medical marijuana to be sold and smoked with severe restrictions.

Um, maybe because it's an illegal drug?

If you *really* needed to ask that, maybe you've already smoked enough of it?
