Alot of blacks consider Clarence Thomspon, Michael Steele, and Condoleeza Rice to be Uncle Toms. However none of these blacks considered Colin Powell to be an uncle tom but yet he is a republican. Would he ever get at least half of the black vote if he ran as vp or president?

I distinctly recall accusations of being an "Uncle Tom" when he was named Secretary of State. I think such accusations go hand-in-hand of being a prominent Republican who is an African-American.

As far as getting "half the black vote", I have no idea. I would hope that his race would not have any more effect than possibly causing some who would normally automatically vote "D" to give him a second look.

Colin Powell is a good man but probably couldn't stand the criticism a President has to take I don't imagine. He would never get elected because he is too honest to take all the bribes also.
