Hi there,
I'm 40 weeks pregnant already, and I was having my contractions this morning at 5am until now. It comes and goes for 5 minutes. Then the last 3 hours the minutes became random, like 10 minutes apart, then 5 minutes apart each contractions. My water hasn't broken till now but I have had my bleeding already (show).
I called the hospital, they told me that there is no point to go to hospital at this stage as it must be 3 minutes apart between contractions for one hour consistently.
They told me I could be in contractions for hours still or even days! Can't I be induced or the water being broken earlier? I couldn't imagine to be like this for days with contractions every 5-8 minutes!
help...!!

Some women have irregular contractions and end up delivering at home. I insisted on an exam twice and twice delivered in less than 3 hrs and my contractions were never regular. I did have the bloody show with one but not the other.
Go to the hospital, insist on an exam and the contraction monitor. Some contractions are painless no matter what you have been told. If you are not dilated than come home and try to rest, if you are dilated than good luck on your early Christmas present.
Congratulations!

When my water broke it felt like a pop and a ton of fluid came out and continued to leak until I had the baby. If it is a high leak you may not feel anything, but notice the leaking. Amniotic fluid should be clear (if the fluid is pink, red, brown, or green let your doc know), some people say it smells like semen. I disagree, but that is just me. Call your doctor and go get checked out. You shouldn't feel ashamed about false alarms sometimes there is no way to tell the difference between false and real labor. Also, if you think your water may have broke you are putting yourself and your baby at risk by not calling your doctor. If the water is broken your baby needs to be monitored and you may need antibiotics depending on your GBS status. Also don't feel guilty about the castor oil. Most desperate pregnant women have tried it myself included. It works on occasion and when it does it can result in a contraction pattern that is too strong and close together = not good for the baby. If your contractions are too close together they can give you medication to slow the contractions at the hospital so tell them you took it. To anyone thinking about castor oil: Labor sucks enough, you don't want to add really bad diarrhea to the mix. Just say no, your baby will come sooner than you think.

This is a normal process of labour. what your body is doing now is preparing and softening your cervix and uterus so that you can have your baby.
it is best to keep active, go for short walks, do some gardening ar cleaning.
this stage is different for everyone, it is best to wait until the contractions are at regular intervals and it is becoming to much to bear. 3-4contraction every 10 min is the recommended time for going to hospital.
and you don't need to have your waters broken , in fact having your waters intact will most likely give you a easier birth, as when the waters break the baby's head is directly on your cervix and not cushioned by the waters.
you are in what is known as early labour and it is a very important part of labour

at your last doct appt how was your cervix and stuff? because if your not dilated they will not keep you unless your contractions are like 3 min apart and or your water has broke. and i dont think the hospital gets to make the choice of you getting induced i think thats always up to your doct. im 37 weeks with my third and i cant wait to get her out... i have 2 boys ages 2yrs and 11 mo.. with those two i kept experiencing the contractions and i was still always getting sent home... man did that get on my nerves.. so with this one i havent even went to the hospital just because i know their stupid routine and i dotn wanna go unless im having my baby you know.. but thats crazy that they didnt want you to come in earlier when you said your contractions were like 5 min apart that morning... when is your next doct appt? maybe you should ask to be induced since you are already 40 weeks.... and especially if you let them know how uncomfy you are and stuff... well i hope this helps you out... and also it sounds like your basically in labor but like the first part where you can be at home but maybe you should walk or try having sex or even both and maybe that will trigger your contractions even more. also you can do squats but girl ill tell you my *** *** right now can barley walk so let alone squats lol but it a idea Good luck!!! and congrats again!!

As they arnt regular contractions then its hard to say if its full on labour or not . sound like you arnt far away but they would not admit you the rate you are at and you would be just wasting your time going there ! Some woman can be in early labour for days and thats just the luck of the draw :( .. hang in there take a bath a walk and take your mind of it somehow .
Good Luck with everything hope you go soon :)

Thats just how labor goes, hun. deal with it.
Your water probably wont break on it's own. They'll break it at the hospital for you. It really is best to wait at home until your contractions are 4-5 minutes apart.
good luck!

I think you have to speak to your Dr. about being induced. I would try to contact your Dr. and see what they say.
good luck!
