An open box is formed from a rectangular sheet of cardboard with dimensions 80 cm by 60 cm, by cutting squares with side length x out of each corner and then folding up the extending pieces and fastening them to form the box. Express the volume of the box in terms of x.

L = 80 - 2x
B = 60 - 2x
H = x

V(x) = (80 - 2x) (60 - 2x) (x)

V = widh * length * height

the hieght is just gonna be x

width = 60 - 2x
length = 80 - 2x

the reason you subtract 2x instead of x is because you don't just cut out 1 corner for each side, you cut 2.

V = (60 - 2x) (80 - 2x) x
