I want to be a translator. I go to college searches, put in linguistics, but what I want is not coming up.

I want to learn Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Japanese, French, and Italian.Aleast three of those, preferably the first three.

What am I looking for, what college could help me? Would I have to go to different colleges?

If you have any referneces on colleges you think will help me, that would be great. On the East Coast of the US is my preference, but I would be willing to go out west if I had to find the perfect college.

The basic problem seems to be that you don't want to study linguistics, but languages. Linguistics is the study of how languages are structured, not languages. Look at departments called things like Modern Languages. A lot of larger schools would offer such programs.

There are many colleges you can go to, most colleges offer majors such as asian studies and whatnot. That is something you could look into, and double major. Most big universities offer a wide range of foreign language classes along with many different study abroad choices. Try looking into some higher ranked State Universities, but any college does!

Try putting in Languages for your search instead.

Also, if you go to the library, ask the librarian for help finding a listing of colleges and what they focus on as far as class offerings, maybe that will help too.

Good Luck!
