An AA degree can take anywhere from two years to four years depending on the number of hours you take each semester and whether or not you make the grade.

The best thing to do is work with the counseling office and see which universities they have a transfer agreement with so you can ensure that most, if not all, of your classes will transfer. This will save you time and money in the long run.

You can also go to the university you plan on attending and talk to them about which classes they recommend you take and to see if they will transfer equally. Universities have a transfer chart that will show the class and equivalent as well as the number of hours it is worth for each community college. By working with both the CC and the university, you can make the best choices in the classes you enroll in.

Now, the top 10 in the class would take hard work on your part. Because you have no clue what other students are doing or what standing they have, focus on yourself and do your best. Spend adequate time studying and prepare for each class so you can make the best grade possible.

I also recommend seeing which CLEP exams your university accepts. This can save you tons of money and up to 2 years of college time! You can sometimes get all your pre-requisites (which are required for any student) out of the way through CLEP and then only have to focus on the core classes.

Best of luck!

Wow! You asked alot of questions in one short space. :-)

AA degree - about 2 years, depending on how many classes you take each semester, and whether or not you attend summer school

Top 10% - Your overall GPA has to be better than 90% of the other students in your graduating class. If there are 200 students in your class, your grades have to be better than at least 180 of the other students.

What classes? If you want to be a pre-med major, you need to figure out which university you will want to transfer to after community college. Find out what the specific requirements are for that school. Take all of the required classes you can at the community college. Don't worry about the A.A. degree. It's not essential to your overall plan. Get the classes you can that will transfer. Best of luck!

Yes, if you are a full-time student, an AA degree takes two years. Actually, if you want to be pre-med, you probably need an AS instead (an associate in science, as opposed to an associate of arts). The classes you need will depend on where you want to transfer, and you need to talk to an advisor about which classes to take. You will probably need a couple of English classes, math, history, and the first two years of science classes (biology, chemistry, etc.) in addition to other general education classes required by the school you are hoping to transfer to.

Class rank is determined by GPA, so you get into the top 10 by having a higher GPA than most of the others.
