No. There's at least 10 other defencemen in the league better than Fisher. He's good, though. If he was still playing for the Wings he would be top 2 D pairings...like he was.

Anything's possible. Keep in mind, there are 180 defencemen in the NHL fighting for 4 post-season all-star slots, and I never saw Jiri Fischer as a league-wide top 5 defenceman in the same ilk as a Lidstrom, Pronger, Niedermayer, Rafalski, Chara, Gonchar, Zubov etc
But, had he had a meteoric rise, and they all had a meteoric downfall, an all-star slot could have been his.

Hard to say? Depends on his PARTNER and what his role would have been? If he turned into a stay at home defenseman and a PK guy, probably not. If he was paired with Lids and was an offensive D-man and played the power play, then he had a good chance? Depends on what Babcock defined his role as!

Oh yeah, he was a great loss to the Red Wings. I miss him not being out there on the blue line, he was a tough defenseman and had all the skills needed.
