Hey, you know, if you don't like the "Mac" then dont use it! She will be your little girl and you have to use her name every day so it might aswell be one you really like!
Plus, if its any consolation, I really like Kenzie. Its really nice.
Not long now, best wishes for the birth!

I think Kenzie is very pretty. It's better than Mackenzie. Mackenzie is too long and way too popular. Kenzie is alot easier for some people to say too.

I definitely wouldn't say it "should" be Mackenzie simply because the name itself happens to be overused at the moment. That's just odd logic there. :)
But you should be aware that Kenzie IS generally considered a nickname, not given name. Mackenzie is actually a form of MacCoinnich (meaning "son of Coinnich/Coinneach), and Coinnich/Coinneach itself is generally Anglicized as Kenneth. So you can see where the nickname Kenzie and related surname Mackenzie come from.
So while I wouldn't recommend adding the literal "son of" Mac- prefix -- turning a generally-masculine nickname into an OBVIOUSLY masculine, trendy name -- I might suggest using Kenzie as a nickname for a longer feminine option, or at least a more formal unisex/masculine name, if that's more your style.
Kenina
Kenna
*** both the above are the actual feminine forms of Coinnich/Coinneach/Kenneth, by the way ;)

I like it. It's spunky and cute, easy to pronounce, and phonetic to spell. Lot's of fun nicknames too - and no dirty or rotten ones...except for maybe 'are you in a frenzy Kenzie?" Which is much better than with names like Buck, Rube and Regina (yikes!) - you get the point, eh?! Would it be short for McKenzie or just Kenzie? I ask because I have a Jake, not short for Jacob and we get Jacob all the time (who knows why??). (:

I like both of the names personally, I think they are both cute. Kenzie is a pretty name, its a little different than Mackenzie which is a pretty popular name. Go for it.

I think it's your baby and you can name her whatever you want....erm...as long as it's not Apple or some crap like that :)
However, remember you're naming an ADULT, not just a cute little baby. I think a stronger name (McKenzie, perhaps?) should be used, but you should call her Kenzie. That way when she's an older, professional woman in the job field people will take her seriously.
Great choice though, good luck :)

its fine as a name by itself. there's a girl on a radio show i listen to name Kenzie, i went to school with a guy named Kenzi.
edit;
It's not too cute to be professional. i work with a Cissie. you cant get much more cutsey than that and she has no troubles in life and work with that name. so Kenzie is fine.
Nobody says it has to have MAC or MC ahead of it just because people will assume its a typo or her real name. you know what they say about people who assume.....
i really Like Kinsie, or Kinzie
maybe these might work if you want something different but similar still ( i prefer an I just to avoid possibilities of being called Ken)

I would go with MacKenzie. Kenzie just sounds like a nickname for MacKenzie anyway.

My step daughters name is Mackenzie and we call her Kenzie. I don't think there is anything wrong with naming her Kenzie.
