Supply and demand is what it is but what the companies state that it cost more to refine the oil in the summer because they need to keep the oil at a cooler temp. I think it is BS so they can jack more cash from us when everyone is traveling.

I believe the oil companies raise the gas prices in the summer because they know people are going on vacation and they'll be going by car. They seem to lower the gas prices now whenever the public and the media question the gas prices to much.Congress threatens to investigate the price hikes, then the gas prices miraculously come down,as soon as that happens, congress calls off the investigation.

I think gas prices are going down becacuse in the winter it's cold and people don't go out on vacations as much as they do over the summer so they have to bring the prices down in the winter to be able to make money.

maybe because they use alot of the air conditioner, so it takes up alot of gas, in the summer i always fill more gas than i usually do in the winter. and the basic economic rule is: the higher the demand the higher the price, and the other way around.

It's the different gasoline formulations, mainly because of the difference in oxygenators and required vapor pressure of the fuel. Refinery capacity is reduced tremendously when they switch to summer fuel. I forget the exact amount of time, but it takes something like 3 or 4 times as long to refine summer fuel as it does winter.
