Al + NH4ClO4 --> Al2O3 + AlCl3 + NO + H20

So stupid, I cannot believe this is in the text book. of all places..., I mean, NO isnt even a balanced molecule!!!!!

3Al + 3NH4ClO4 --> Al2O3 + AlCl3 + 3NO + 6H20

balance the number of oxygen atoms first, followed by hydrogen, nitrogen and then chlorine and aluminium atoms.
