Women tend to tune in to their bodies closely, identifying unusual or strange symptoms almost immediately. One monthly sign, however, is extremely obvious when it arrives and doesn't require scrutiny to detect. Our menstrual period is generally fairly noticeable.
according to research and studies that ive read alcohol intake cannot cause late period.
girl if youre not pregnant, here are main causes of having a late period..
Stress. Both emotional and physical stress can cause your menstrual period to be late. If you've been under a lot of emotional stress - a death in the family, work related problems, etc. - you may experience a change in your menstrual cycle. Physical stress includes excessive exercise or a significant change in your diet.
Weight. Being overweight can cause your menstrual period to be delayed, as can being underweight. Dropping a dramatic amount of weight in a short period of time - for example, if you follow a very strict diet - can cause your menstrual period to be late, too.
Medications. Certain prescription medications may affect your menstrual cycle. Birth control pills are one obvious culprit, but even some psychotropic drugs could cause your period to be late.
Other problems. Other health issues - like a thyroid or pituitary gland condition - could affect your menstrual cycle.
the best thing u can do is to relax, avoid stressful activities, eat the right food which is balanced diet, drink alot of water

Alcohol, stress, diet, emotions, they can all screw with your period. All through college, I had sporadic periods even while I was on the pill that was supposed to make it come every month. My diet was light and pretty bad and I was always stressed out.
Sometimes you can't pinpoint the reason why you don't get it. But if you've not been active for a year, then don't worry. How long has it been? Just give the gyn a call, and a nurse practitioner or the doctor can call you back with an answer. After all, you just saw them, right? Perhaps wait for your pap results, see if it comes back normal.

Too much alcohol CAN alter your cycle but that's pretty unusual. are you under a lot of stress? Have you changed your physical fitness regimen drastically? There is a condition called PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome(PCOS) that can cause a DRASTIC cycle change. It can be sporadic or consistent depending on many different reasons. You should also ask your doc about Amenorhea. This condition causes a woman to ovulate with some cycles and not with others.

There is more than one answer here. I had a friend who was 4 months late once. It turned out her body was just very very stressed. If you have not had sex, then you dont have to worry about being pregnant. You need to think back to when you were drinking. Did you pass out, or possibly get drunk enough to not remember sex with someone? If you rule this out, then all you can do is wait. Stress does very strange things to everyone, from hair loss, to acne, to even erectile dysfunction. Hope you get well soon.

Stress
Hormonal changes
Drastic changes in eating habits
eating disorder i.e. anorexia/bullemia
Major changes in physical activity - exercise
ovarian cyst
Or, possibly "just because" - no particular reason
I'm glad you are going to the Doc - they will be able to tell you more.

stressing about it can stress can cause a really messed up period if you know for certain that your not pregnant and just aren't trying to convince your self take a test, prove it to your mom and relax about it, and try BC(birth control) just to get your periods regulated. how old are you? maybe you should be tested of PCOS http://www.pcosupport.org/medical/whatis.php its not life threatening but can cause issues with weight period pregnancy and diabetes and should be caught soon to be medicated for it, good luck
