He grew up there, and went to school there...signed a contract through 2013 just last year...said he was going to be here for a long time and got them just 1 win shy of making the national championship...and now hes gone before they even play their bowl game!?!?! He claims that hes not coaching them in their bowl because "he doesnt want it to be a distraction" but thats a load of crap..he wouldnt have left if he cared about the team and distraction...Maybe him and Belien are butt buddies? Thats all I can think of and to see him lying the past few days at news confrences makes me pissed that I ever liked him

It's not surprising he isn't coaching them in the fiesta bowl. Coaches usually don't coach the bowl game after leaving for another school, only if they are retiring. He left because he had WVU one win away from the national championship game, and with michigan, he will have twice the talent. At WVUI you can get the Steve Slatons and the Pat Whites, but at Michigan you can get those caliber players, and a jake long to block for them, not to mention a defense.

As for his lying, all I heard him say was he wasn't talking about it, or that he was focusing on the fiesta bowl. What was he supposed to say?

I hate when fans whine about guys from their team leaving for a better opportunity. They do it when a coach goes to winningest program in college football, or leave for a paycheck. Why shouldn't these guys try and better themselves? Coach R Rod gave WVU a lot of good years, and was one of the best coaches they ever had.

Why wouldn't he go to Michigan? It's the name of the game. Coaches are always looking for the better job. He'll make more money, be at a better school that gets on TV more, more endorsements, good chance of winning a national title, and he'll be able to recruit the studs he couldn't get at West Virginia. Plus, the challenge of it all. He took West Virginia about as far as you could go. They've been in bowl games but he wants the big stage. A chance to be a football god at Michigan if he brings them a national title.

Well, no offense to WV, but it's really quite simple. Michigan is the all time most winningest program in the country, they have a larger fan base (which equals more money), a larger recruiting base (which gives you better players), and quite frankly, the decision between Michigan and West Virginia is like Darren McFadden asking himself : "Do I go pro or stay at Arkansas?". It makes no sense that Rodriguez would stay at WVU. And in my opinion, he will probably coach the team in the bowl game in order to leave on a winning note (instead of the drumming they took against Pitt), and also as a way to thank the University, his players, and fans for helping him acheive the success they've had in recent years.

When you let the media hype settle, WVU lost to Pitt and South FLA. I mean come on. Is there any more system QB White? Sure they scored alot of points, but wow Cinncinatti was a really really close second in that conference.

When WVU gets blown out, I mean really really really really blown out by Oklahoma. Too bad the ink will already be dry on the contract! Michigan just got suckered! I think Les Miles Just pulled a fast one on the Big 10! Watch LSU start pulling recruits out of michigan now!

Hey, this is Michigan. The Big 10. Mich vs OSU, best rivalry in all of sports. College or Pro. He will be known nationally, unlike he was before this weird season where almost everybody went to #1 by default. Money probably a factor too.

to blipityblabity, first of all i,m a die hard mountaineer fan. i,ll concede year in and year out michigan is better than wvu. but, not this year and when the underlying contract talks where going on last year at alabama i watched a coach get out coached by south florida, i watched it at morgantown this year against pitt, we had the ball on the 21 yard line 1st and ten with 1;30 left to play. you have a premier qb 2 fast running backs and a bull as a blocker/runner in owen schmidt look at his 4 down plays it reminds me of don nehlen ,not this self proclaimed west coast throw the kitchen sink at them god, but don nehlen of years gone by. as far as the whining he swore a year ago to the nation, wvu the fans, state and players, i,m from wv, my family loves wv, i played at wv and this is where i,ll stay, if thats not a lie then what would you call it.
