He was the absolute greatest thing that ever happened to my generation. I think he had to be my very favorite. In fact, we were the same age so I felt like he was a kindred spirit speaking to me softly with his songs. Making life's bump and grind a happy adventure. Even though I never met him personally, I felt I knew him. He was just such a translucent figure in both mind and body reaching out giving you all he had, hoping to make the going a little easier growing up in the 70s and 80s. I'm gonna collect ever song as listening to them brings me back to when life was simple, sweet, fun and full of adventure. Just think about it, all the good musicians seem to check out early. They bless us with their great gift and then their work is done and they are gone. Just makes you realize how much we need to appreciate and enjoy all the beauty around us as tomorrow it could be gone.

These 2 from High Country Snows have been a special inspiration and comfort to me through many hard times. I appreciate all his work. It is hard to pick just one. One leads to another and then another.
The Higher You Climb
The higher you climb, the more that you see
The more that you see, the less that you know
The less that you know, the more that you yearn
The more that you yearn, the higher you climb
The farther you reach, the more that you touch
The more that you touch, the fuller you feel
The fuller you feel, the less that you need
The less that you need, the farther you reach
The higher you climb, the more that you see
The more that you see, the less that you know
The less that you know, the more that you yearn
The more that you yearn, the higher you climb
The higher you climb, the more that you see
The more that you see, the less that you know
The less that you know, the more that you yearn
The more that you yearn, the higher you climb
Wandering Shepherd
Wandering shepherd, wander no more
Wandering shepherd, wander no more
Wandering shepherd, wander no more
Lay down your troubles, your worries and woes
Traveling pilgrim, rest for the night
Traveling pilgrim, rest for the night
Traveling pilgrim, rest for the night
Sup with the Savior and drink of His light
Homeless believer, find here a home
Homeless believer, find here a home
Homeless believer, find here a home
You may be lonely but never alone
Wandering shepherd, wander no more
Wandering shepherd, wander no more
Wandering shepherd, wander no more
Lay down your troubles, your worries and woes

I have so many wonderful memories of Dan after 35 years and 18 live shows.
To ask a DanFan to name a favorite song is a challenge. It translates to the favorite song "du jour" most of the time. The day he died, I kept going to River of Souls but the one that stays with me through them all is "Our Last Farewell."

I really was a fan of his soulful voice, and my favorite song of his is 'Leader of the Band' (supposed to be an ode to his father who was a bandleader). May Dan rest in peace and his legacy live on...
