what is the f generation? is there always only one? (heredity)?

This has to do with heredity in plants. I need a simple definition for this. Thank you!

Filial Generation which is the first generation of offspring. F2 is the second generation of offspring.

F1 generation stands for "first filial generation". These are the offspring from crossing the parents.

F2 generation stands for "second filial generation". These are the offspring from letting the F1 individuals cross.

Filial refers to "sons", so it's the kids.
