Yes I think you are right.
Some things and some people come into our lives to teach us something, to bring something to our lives. They are not meant to stay, just to make their impression and move on. If you try to hold on, you will not keep them, you will just drive them away even more. Sometimes it hurts to let go but it's necessary. It's part of growing.
Some things and people come into your life to stay. You know what and who they are when you find them because you don't have to hold on. You can let go and they are still there, bringing joy to your life every day. Those things are meant to be. Cherish them.

i'm relating a relationship that's ending with your question - if the partner's aren't in agreement that it should end, the one holding on will most likely get hurt because it was the other who's initiating the relationship's demise. The one left behind is almost always more hurt than the one who chooses to walk.
There's an old saying, "you can't step into the same river twice." I think it's relevant in that once a person has lost their feelings for another, nothing - not time, begging, compromising, promising - nothing will bring those feelings back to what they once were - to acknowledge this dynamic is probably the healthiest way to accept things out of your control and to then recharge and start taking care of your own needs.

A thing or a person? Anything that serves its purpose will eventually go away...but if you can let go of it thats the next question or will just hang on to that thing that served a purpose. I think I hang on for the memories..its those memories of this thing that keeps us flowing either good or bad. That thing will make you a stronger person..Never throw any thing away that served a purpose you learn from it. No it doesnt hurt to hang on to the past but its the past that helps you get on with the future. Let go but never forget. I dread the day... when I have to let go of something so precious that I nearly cry just writing about it..A person that I love.. but I have learned so much from them And I would never let go but go foward when that time comes. No it doesnt hurt at all..to hold.. Sorry I got all involved in this q. forgive me Rena.

In my experience, if something has served its purpose (and you have to use your own discretion to find if this is actually true) its best to let it go.
Sometimes if we hold on to something like that, it becomes dead weight in our lives, holding us back from where we are going right now. And this often leads to pain and regret.

I guess my Purpose is my Family, I give a lot of Love to them, and when they forget about us their Parents, we get Hurt because of it.

Depends on what "thing" is---and how one perceives the
Person, place, thing, and what is the reason to let go,
some times we are darned if we do or don't, and some things
just don't go away by our just letting go. some things need to be resolved if they can be.

'Careful. If what you are asking is what I think you are asking, then it is too important not to re-frame the question in a way we can better understand. Let us not 'assume' what you are asking.
