Crazy isn't. To my understanding, we could have a recision. Thier is a big housing burst, and most people can not afford Holiday gifts this Christmas (or at least not the gifts they would like to have.) The National Debt is a high as the sky- 9 BILLION and counting. Please, for the love God and this wonderful country, why oh why does George Bush think the economy is doing fine?

He doesn't. His speech writer prepared a statement for him and he read to it us, fed it to us. I was passively listening to him while working on a project when he made that statement, I almost flipped out of my chair. What an insult to the people losing their jobs, their homes and their sanity...

The economy is doing fine for most working people. The housing problems are very minor but well reported. More lower income and shaky credit people own houses than every before. Those of us who work are buying all the Christmas presents we want and also giving to the various charities to help those less fortunate. The huge federal debt is driven by the socialists in government, both democrats and republicans. It will get much worse as the baby boomers grab the entitlements they have been paying for all their lives. We need a genuine conservative to solve the tax and spend problem. The economy would be even better if not for the government stealing so much out of the economy. So watch who you vote for.

If you think the debt is bad now, wait for national health care. 9 billion is nothing compared to what that will do to us.

Propaganda. Hopes to fool sharks which scent blood. Bad monetary practices always lead to this. You know your Santayana well to add more ''Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it''. The lesson never learned is when things get really tough the wealthy can wind up dead. Greed kills you. not threat just fact. Example French Revolution. Kings ,Aristocracy were wealthy then later tried to pretend they were not losing money. All the propaganda is failing from that about the American Dream to it being the Most wonderfull place in the world. Time to put all propaganda aside no longer usefull. Require fresh propaganda . Something new will be thought up unless The Humanitarian Card is still of use. Oiyellllll Freedom.

The answer is obvious, if his public is as ill-educated as the OP, it is because he expects his citizenry to be as dumb as the day is long. Most of us aren't worried about a 'recision', we are worried that gasoline will get so expensive that inflation will get out of hand, and that every dollar we spend on gasoline is financing ***-holes with an attitude. As the OP put it, "thier" is the possibility of a 'housing burst', but most people with a bit of sense realize that after 30 months of a correction, it is pretty likely that what we most have to fear, is 'fear itself'. The national debt is a problem, and unlikely to be remedied, but that has been the case for years. I detest our politicians, but they are just what we deserve.
Jimmy Carter asininely asked about our national malaise in 1979, America laughed at him, rightfully so. Then they elected Reagan in 1980. America recovered rapidly, and it became obvious that being positive is almost as important as being right.
Almost, not entirely.

Because with only a year left in Office- He's thinking it's not HIS problem- anymore (& it's a little too late to blame Bill Clinton). Let's face it, Bush never left "La-la Land..." Why should he do so- now?! :(

Maybe because people are still buying big screen TVs big cars and junk they don't need...seems to me if the economy is in crapper people would be more inclined to buy food than an Ipod....don't you? Even the people on welfare have cell phones and other junk they don't deserve to own.
