It wasn't a star dying. That takes weeks to build up and fade away, not seconds. It was probably an iridium flash - light reflecting off the solar panels of a communications satellite. They get very bright very quickly and then fade to nothing, all in about 20 seconds.

Only if I let them.
Some of the stars of my life are forever.
Some are not.
I'm trying to brighten those stars that faded away.
They truly lit my sky.

I hope not, we would be dead if the sun burned out. Even then, if it dead, the speed of light from the Earth and Sun would leave us 8 minutes to worry, then leaving us as nothing. Only a moment of time I suppose.

All light has left us . Only the darkness remains. Lament and prepare for the emptiness to come.
