I read somewhere in the secret that they both have the same definition and they both listen to every single thought.
It seems like they're the same except god can think and judge people, and the universe is just inanimate.

I tend to think of God as a extra dimensional being, outside the dimensions we ever were meant to or can perceive. It'd be like trying to explain what a 3 dimensional being is to a 2 dimensional being. The concept of depth wouldn't make any sense at all because there is no point of reference for the 2 dimensional being to understand.

If it is looked at from the perspective of a Godless universe, you could say that the universe already has a perception of itself. Humans in this model would be soulless objects, consisting of a particular chemical and biological structure that allows these objects (and ultimately part of the universe) to perceive itself, make moral judgements, and ultimately ask questions like this.

In a universe where there is a God, he would exist outside the physical dimensions of the said 'universe'. Our ultimate perceptions of reality (our soul) and moral judgements we all feel would come from him. I subscribe to this line of thinking.

The very idea of biological structures capable of abstract thought processes, moral conciousness, and perception coming into existence through random chemical compounds is practically absurd to me. Though it could be argued that, with the vast infinity that is the 'universe', the chances of that happening are 100%. It could also be argued that the chances of an extra-dimensional being outside our current dimension is also 100% and both are true.

When dealing with infinity, everything is eventually true.

So to me, God is not the universe, but can be part of it. Though he can also be outside of it as well.

Inanimate yes it does not think Universe is as close as people get. Is all. Just is no thought. Greed is another thing which is like God as it thinks through humanity. Greed is a Universe wrapped around a single planet. For humanity this has been all that exists a Universe powered by money a reality no less real than God as Universe. If people were to debate Greed and God at same time would be interesting. Both infulence people at same time.

No. God created the universe, the created does not become equal to the creator. To assume that God is the universe and the universe is God is erroneous. It would mean that we should worship the universe, converse in prayer with the stars and galaxies outside our own solar system as well as the moon and the sun.
In Genesis it shows quite clearly that God created these things so that dispels any god or goddess of the moon or sun or planets or stars.
God is not the universe, and the universe is not to be worshiped as if it were ...God.
The universe does not have a mind of it's own, it grows and expands according to the laws of the physical universe God laid out when He spoke it out of the void.
I hope this clears things up for you, because there is no secret about God, He made sure that you and I would know that about Him by ensuring a collection of books that reveals Himself to you and I. We call this collection of books "The Holy Bible".

The universe is not inanimate. Almighty is Omnipresent
uniformly spread through the entire infinite universe.

Many questions were asked in the ancient Hindu
texts about the nature of Parama Atama (infinite
soul, or Almighty) and Atma (soul). In the olden
days, Gurus used to put these questions to
disciples to test their knowledge.

What is the constituent material of Almighty? All
created materials are subject to decay and
annihilation, Almighty is above the influence of
decay and annihilation. He is eternal.

Then is Almighty a void? In terms of material
characteristics, Almighty is void (Soonya).

Can this lead to the logic that Almighty is not
there? No. Almighty is there. He is consciousness,
the infinite consciousness. The Atma which is a
finite piece of Almighty, according to Advaita
Vedanta - the personal consciousness. Soul was
created in the likeness of the Infinite Soul.

Since Atma is only a minute piece of Almighty, is
it subjected to annihilation? No. Atma is also
eternal.

This terminology The Universe is for those who don't' want to use the word God mostly because people have tried to give Him a bad name. (But they are all lies) Actually God designates the rule of His material Creation to demi gods. (The are not God but they are empowered servants of Him.) The Hindus tend to lump them in the same category as God but they are not the same. Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Elohim, Rama, Vishnu, etc.) these are different names for the same One True God. But the demi gods like Ganesha, lord Shiva, Dhurgha, Vayu oversees wind,Bhumi or Dharti mother of earth, Agni-oversees fire, Surya ruler of the sun, Chandra- ruler of the moon, Indra-king the of heavenly planets (the stars)and rain. And so many others. So in one sense God is not doing all the judging, they are. He only intervenes when some devotee of His takes shelter of Him and He wants to protect them or lessen their karma. The secret about the secret that they left out, is it very much depends on ones Karma if they will get their desire. Otherwise everyone would be winning at gambling and lotto and everyone would have their dream home, and perfect relationships be healthy and wealthy etc. Frankly the secret is a crap shoot. Best to pray for the highest good and greatest joy otherwise one can get trapped in a mess of their material attachments.

It starts, "This was somewhat of a joke by Einstein..."

If god is the same as the universe, then he is not anthropomorphic. This means that we really can't even refer to him as "He." The essence of god is scattered throughout the cosmos in billions of molecular structures which eventually add up to the universe. This view of the diety is known as PANTHEISM. It's that god is infused into and a part of everything.

This perspective also renders god powerless. the power of god is simply contained within the natural order of the universe.

Any attempt to hold otherwise is contradictory and illogical.

The Secret is a lie spread by Satan. 'Imagine' it tells you 'and you may have everything you want with no effort'. It proposes that you are greater than God, that you have the power to affect any change, and to even oppose His will and succeed.

If this seems even vaguely plausible to you, your greed and lust has overcome your reason and humility. Beg for forgiveness for presuming to be so much vastly more than you are before it is too late. God has little tolerance for those who worship false idols...

"Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, "Men in White Apparel," Ann Ree Colton, and "The Reincarnation of Edgar Cayce?", Free and Wilcock, give some explanation as to the complexity and levels of Energy.

God is greater than the Universe, which is a geometrically coalesced aspect of Energy, intended and serving as a platform for spirit-sparks' (that's us) development.

Some say yes - others say no. Depending on which doctrine you believe in. Even established world religions differ on this one !
