I put up a Nintendo Wii for starting bid $335 and Buy It Now $430. Shipping was $35. With one minute left and no bids, someone bought it for the Buy It Now price. He has 0 feedback. He payed $480 for the entire thing. It was confirmed on my PayPal. The guy e-mailed me, but he has very broken English. He is French and lives in Canada. Could this be a scam in any way?

Yes, it is possible, but there is a way of minimizing your risk.

A common buyer's e-bay scam is to pay for an item, but after receiving it they file a claim alleging that the box didn't contain the item ordered, and then they dispute the charges!

The way to minimize this risk is by insuring the item for the full amount paid--even if the buyer didn't pay for the "optional insurance". Protect yourself by paying for the shipping insurance yourself! Make sure you also take, and retain photographs of the item, as well as your original purchase receipt so if the buyer tries to dispute receipt of the item, you will have recourse to back up your claim. Also retain receipts of the e-bay transaction, as well as your paypal receipt.

Oh, in addition, require the purchaser sign for the delivery, so you will have his signature on record showing that he did actually receive what you shipped.

Another buyer's e-bay "scam" is to claim the item was broken when they received it--they do this by swapping out an item they already own that is broken, for the one you sent. In this event, you will need to file an insurance claim and it could cause problems.

A way to avoid this in the future is by placing a stipulation in your e-bay ad that you will only sell to e-bayers with a feedback of at least 20, will only accept paypal, and ship to buyers with confirmed addresses.

Hopefully though, as long as you purchase shipping insurance, you shouldn't have any problems.

It doesn't matter now. He bought it, paid for it and now, you must ship it. You could have blocked bidders from countries you don't want to ship to. If he's from Canada, he's may be from Quebec which is a french speaking province. Check with paypal and make sure the address in confirmed. All you can do is ship it. Nothing sounds off to me about it. A lot of people wait until the very last minute to buy, although he was dumb to buy and not bid at that point.

he paid for it right....so if he paid for it, send it out to him. I bet he is waiting for it, it could be a present for someone special.
