Its spirit week at school......my friend they wore beaded necklaces. Is that like Mardi gra necklaces? or something else?

In the late '60's, beaded necklaces and headbands were the "in" thing, along with what we called "granny glasses", or what today is the cheap reading glasses you can find at many drug stores. I can't remember much about jewelry in the '70's since I was too involved in college and starting a career. God Bless you.

60s - little lockets on fine chains, pearl earrings and necklaces vs. hippie beads [ wooden or painted wood - not shiny like Mardi Gras beads ], leather bands strapped over foreheads
70s - HOOP earrings, button earrings [ 1 - 2 " diameter ], puka bead necklaces, mood rings
