mutation: A change in the number, arrangement, or molecular sequence of a gene.

a mutation can include the following:

multiple repeats - ABCD --> ABCDABCD
nondisjunction - when a whole chromosome is either accidentally duplicated or missing so that it will result in a single or more than 2 chromosomes.
translocation - if FG is supposed to be part of another chromosome, translocation is ABCDFG, where ABCD is supposed to be a separate, individual chromosome.
deletion - ABCD --> ABC
inverse deletion - ABCD --> ABDC

and etc.

A mutation is any change or mistake in the DNA of an organism.

A chromosomal mutation is a change in chromosomes, such as translocation, inversion, and so on. It results in different sets of information being passed on to new cells.

Yeah i agree with ecolink. It's (basically) exponential cell growth somewhere where it shouldn't be happening due to DNA error.
