I agree, I don't think people of color are liberal, they just know who hates and/or despises them, and that's the Republicans. It's not that the Democrats are so wonderful, and so open-minded, they're just less hateful. David Duke, the "former" KKK member started out as a Democrat, since they usually do better in the South, but couldn't get elected. He switched to Republican, and sure enough, he got elected as a Republican Congressman, one of the first since Reconstruction. Can't imagine why so many people don't like the Republican party.

Because when people get trampled on by their government they want change, so the whites have historically always got their way, all presidents have been white, most supreme court justices have been white, most of congress is white, the whites have it good.
Blacks on the other hand do not have it good. 8% of white people are in poverty, 25% of blacks and 25% of hispanics are in poverty. You may think that the change in the 1950s, 60s and 70s was enough for black people, but not so. Generally american institutions are working against black and hispanic people. America used to be a land of opportunity, but now it is a place where hard work will get you by but will make someone else loads more money.
Take education. If you are born in a poor inner city area, you are going to have a worse education than a richer area. You are less likely to go to college even if you can afford to do so. You are therefore going to get a job that does not earn much money and that is if you have been brought up okay, others quit school earlier, get into crime, or get a job in macdonalds, you stay in your area, you have kids, who are born poor, who go to a poor school, who don't go to college, who work in macdonalds, who have kids, and so on, it is a cycle that the government and the majority do not wish to break because it is better for them. And that is just the issue of education funding.
The whole system is against poor people, health care, you are poor, you are likely to be more ill, less likely to be able to work, or work effectively, more likely to get the sack, to die early etc.
Black people are three times more likely to be effected by this than white people, that is why they want change, while a lot of white people just don't want change because for them life is good, there are people there to serve them in macdonalds, they don't have to pay for other kids education or health care so taxes are lower, they have more money to spend on what they want, while the poor people remain in a cycle of misery.

You mean 90% of blacks vote Democrat. Please note that a large majority of Mexican-Americans vote Democrat along with union members, Jews, public school teachers, lawyers, college professors, minorities in general, gays and many other groups. The reason why they vote Democrat is that the above listed groups are hated by the Republicans. You can call it racism for the races that are hated by Republicans and you can call it pure hatred of the non-racial groups. Also consider the churches attended by blacks and whites; they are not the same churches. White churches vote Republican and Black churches vote Democrat. Have you ever considered that a black person would feel unwelcome in a white church? They would feel unwelcome just like any Democrat because they Know that the white church members are Republicans and that they hate the Democrats. In other words, these "spiritual evangelical churches" prefer politics over blacks because they know that blacks can't feel comfortable around these hateful Republicans. Blacks overwhelmingly vote against Republcan candidates just like they vote no (with their feet) to white conservative churches. Republicans don't like to be taxed so that the governement can spend it on blacks/welfare/Headstart/etc. Make a list of who the Republican party is against/hates and compare it to a list of people that the Democrats hate. You will see for yourself why so many groups of Americans have been excluded from the Republican party. The list that the Democrats don't like are corporations that don't want the minimum wage raised, don't want to provide health care for employees and want to ship American jobs overseas because they can exploit foreign workers in ways they can only wish that they could do to blacks, Mexican-Americans, etc. You should look up the groups that were hated and exterminated by the Nazis and compare which groups the Nazis and the Republicans hate.

If you knew the definition of "liberal" --not as it has been spun recently--you would know.
(Also include in your question lower income whites as well.)
Liberals historically--again until recently--were champions of the downtrodden and less fortunate working for equality for ALL Americans. This is NOT to say they believed in a welfare state, but a boost to give a head start and to help make the playing field a little more level.
Also, if you look at what Afro-Americans have been struggling against for DECADES, you certainly can see that the deck has not only been stacked, but the dealing has been from the bottom!
Let's level the playing field MORE:

Makes me wonder too. The southern states were run by democrats who supported slavery and fought very bitterly for segregation up to the 1960's. One of the last hold outs on segregation was Lester Maddox a southern democrat.

Where you get those numbers? The black people I know are sociall conservative but fiscal liberal. They do believe in social programs but aren't for gay marriage or abortion. In fact, I think many blacks are conservative in social aspects but just aligned with the DNC because of the belief that the DNC is their party.
