Another way to say "I love you just not like that"
"Your friendship means more to me than love"
"I love you but..."
"I love you in my own way..."
"Your a nice person..."
Its basically humanese for "I don't want to just smack you int he face with the cold, hard truth because that would hurt you or, if you turn out to be a spycho killer that might hurt me."
But on a more serious note. If you really want to know what a person means by what they say then ask the person. Its a strange concept I know, this communication thing, but occasionally it works :)
