Is it better to use two rags? One to dust with first and then the other to apply the furniture polish? ...or is it better to just spray the polish on the dust and wipe it with one rag?

A quick wipe with a slightly moistened cloth prior to waxing is the best bet. In that way you capture much of the dust. Then spray on your polish sparingly and shine the devil out of the furniture.

As far as order, if you keep up with it, you will only need one rag.
If you are 'catching up' and it's kinda thick, the two-rag method can be good, but beware: the first rag is probably 'dry'. In that case you aren't dusting, you're just re-arranging it. You need the moisture of the polish to attract and pick up the dust.
The best thing we've found is an Ostrich feather duster. You can get it at http://www.flylady.net/. She has a really cool site and is all about organizing, cleaning, etc.

i use a rag with the polish because if i just use a rag and then use the polish all i am doing is scattering the dust all over and it will eventually resettle in the same spot. furniture polish actually holds the dust and keeps it from flying around in the air.

Start at the top and work down. If you start at the bottom the dust from the high spots will land where you just dusted. If the dust is thick use the two rag method. If the dust is not very thick one rag will handle it.

It really depends on the polish you are using. Some you can dust and polish at the same time and regular furniture polish would have to go on a dust free surface.

Two rags, or you will scratch the furniture. Better yet, three. Apply the polish with the second one, and rub it off with the third one.

spray our polish on your rag then rub it into the wood it will make it shine better and remove the dust at the same time but make sure you rub it into the wood when you dust or you will get a build up on your furniture , i use to rags on for my dusting and one for my glass so i dont get them confused they are both diffrent colors

I'm one of those who sprays her rag and then dusts. I've found that to work the best.

I like to work my way from the ceiling to the floor... I use the vacuum cleaner attachment and get rid of cobwebs.. I also have a corrigated look paneled wall I vacuum.... I then move to the furniture/surfaces... I like a microfiber cloth.. I use polish about once a week.... I clean the television/glass.. Then I vacuum....
