Forget all the "issues" for a minute. Don't you think it would be good for all of them to make that pledge?

Yes, I considered the fact that they take that empty oath.

I guess since that oath no longer means anything, an additional, honest pledge must also be made! lol...yeah right

The already do when they are sworn in - they swear to uphold the Constitution and the laws of the United States. Our current president seems to have forgotten that oath.

Most of them have already taken an Oath, whether or not it was the oath they took when they accepted the office of the House of Reps, the Senate or the Governorship. There is no need for them to take an Oath or pledge as a candidate as they have no power simply as a candidate.

I think they should be hooked up to lie detector machines while answering questions during debates and I also think they should have to be drug tested and if they're taking any kind of prescript ed medication which alters the mind such as anti-depressants they should be disqualified.
And God forbid if they're taking illegal drugs and if the drug tests prove that they are then they should do time in prison for attempting to deceive the American public.
But as long as they pledge to honor the rules of a republic while being given a lie detector I think that would be marvelous otherwise I won't believe a word they say.

The pledge is to uphold the Constitution of the United States. It takes more than a pledge to do good. It takes serious bipartisanship support to act for the good of the citizenry, not for the political party. The present congress is the worst yet. Had we been as inefficient in our job as they have in theirs, we would have been out on our ears no questions asked. Now the idiots want Baseball mania tocloud up their calendar.

it is the RESPONSIBILITY of the people to hold them accountable. What makes you think a pledge would be any different from the lies, I mean campaign promises they make already?
