It's hard to say. I mean, we kill cows because we need their meat. If we kill the cow in the first place, we might as well use the rest of the body parts right? (As disgusting as that sounds.) However, I think it starts reaching the negative side at killing mass amounts of animals just for their skin. ]:

It depends on what your feelings are towards animals. Buying a second hand jacket thats made out of fur may be wrong to some people because no matter how you put it, a animal WAS killed for it.
I know PLENTY of people who wear fur, I rarely wear it too. I wear what I want despite what anyone thinks. It IS disrespecful to chase and hound/bash a person just because theyre wearing fur thou.

Yes and no, if I had to survive yes. Our ancestors survived by killing animals, but they used every part of it. They used hyde for clothing, the meat for food, the bones as tools, and the entrals as well for strings etc. Now days, depending on the fur, if its cow, sheep etc, its ok because they use the meat for food, the entrals for some musical instruments, and the fur for clothing. Now if it was mink, or any other type of animal that is not normally killed for food, then no because the animal would just go to waste, and its unfair to the animal. Remember, those who wear fur (not cow, sheep etc) make sure you put a big oh sticker on the front saying "I'm an as shole because I wear fur!"

I endorse wearing new leather and/or fur if that is your desire.
I don't believe God gave us resources that He didn't intend or approve of us using.
I don't believe animal hides would tan-able to produce thick, durable and water resistant material if it were not meant for us to use the hides.
I think the same thing about fur.
I see no ethical difference between eating an animal's flesh and making use of its bones as fertilizer for our crops, and the tanning and wearing of the animals' skins.

I'm a fan of leather. It is durable for jackets, bags, shoes, and jewelry. I know people from PETA will probably banish me to hell, but it is ok :-) I prefer leather shoes simply because they are durable AND because they do not stink like man made materials.
I don;t wear fur though. Not because I have a problem with the process but because I think fur in 2007 is done in a tackey manner.
Also, a second hand article is still leather--just because it is used doesn't mean an animal wasnt killed for it.

I'm a fan of leather. New leather, Old leather. I have 3 leather jackets, gloves, and a pair of leather pants. I find fur to be warm, but ugly. These cows are raised for for their hide, im sorry if that offends people, but its true

On one hand, it's not unethical because you are not harming any animals...it's second hand, so the designer really has no idea that this piece is being worn by more people...hence, he wouldn't feel the necessity to create more of them. (Hopefully that makes some sense.)
On another hand, you're still promoting the use of animals for clothing, which I view as unethical.

Still wrong. Because you're still wearing the animal. It doesn't matter if someone had it before you. You're hurting the animal. Not directly, but you still are.
The only way I think it would ever be okay to wear the fur of an animal is if you survived in the wilderness and made your own clothes. Haha. Faux is fine with me!

well i think that wearing fur of anytype is disrespectful to the animal. Just as having fur rugs, you are just stepping on its remainings, sort of. And I believe that all living things deserve respect.
