Derek Jeter without even saying so..Derek Jeter has been on of the best players in baseball, world S, champion and not hurt all that much at all. Ken Griffey Jr has been hurt many times and out of the line up. He probably could of been one of the great players or hitters in baseball. But I rather have NY Derek J on my team anytime.

Early in his career Ken Griffey Jr. was on his way to becoming maybe the best player in the history of the game. Injures have definetly put an end to that but Jeters age and his recent preformance are obivous blemishes on his career. Right now would say that Griffey is better as long as he can stay injury free.

Thats not even close, Griffey and Jeter arent even in the same class IMO. Had it not been for injuries Griffey would have gone down as a top 3 ball player of all time. But even with the injuries i still have him as a top 10 player.

Griffey was a .300 hitter until his injuries, now he is still a career .290 hitter with 593 HR's and 1701 RBI's and will finish his career with prob. 650 or more HR's. Jeter is a .317 hitter (which will only get worse as he gets older) with just 195 HR's and 933 RBI's. Thats not even comparable. Not to mention Griffey was one of the greatest defensive CF's of all time, Willie Mays like. Jeter is one of the worst defensive SS's in the game...

Griffey substitute into easily a good fielder at one factor (Jeter has never been a good fielder, as a results of fact of his adverse variety), and alter right into a plenty extra desirable hitter for the time of his best. Jeter is an marvelous hitter for a shortstop, of course, besides as an marvelous baserunner over a excellent occupation. i'm nevertheless going with Griffey. although, not all skills are created equivalent - i will take a brilliant hitter who's mediocre interior the sphere and on the bases than somebody who's only respectable at each little thing.

They play different positions. You can't really compare them. Jeter can hit for average, and Griffey is a better power hitter. However, I am more of a fan of Jeter than Griffey.

As of right now, Derek Jeter is the better player.

Griffey before his injuries was awesome!
Before injuries, i would say Griffey was the better player, but not by much.

My opinion is Jeter.

Jeter has a higher lifetime batting average, while Griffey definitely has more power. But he can't seem to stay healthy and all of that power does nothing when he is sitting on the bench.
