Evryone at gamestop told me i can't play ps2 online anymore is that true?

I'm about to buy the stuff but can I still play?

It is still possible to play,it is not a very fast or good online playing system, thus the reason Gamestop people dis it. It is still possible to play, I play Star Wars Battlefront online all the time. The equipment may be hard to come by though.
Yes it is possible, not a big thing anymore.
