I was at work one day last week, during my break me and another girl were chit chatting when another came in back with her purse as I guess her shift was over. Without boring you too much with words, the one girl pulled out a baggie and showed it to us and it appeared to be some sort of illegal drugs. Now, it could have been anything but it looked like drugs to me and the other worker. I didn't think someone would show someone they didn't know their "stuff" Was I wrong for mentioning this to my manager? Some people say I should have not bothering for my safety, some people say I did the right thing. I told my manager that I did not know what it was in the bag, just that she was acting in a manner as such.
Am I in trouble here, did I do the wrong thing. Should I say something else to my manager more about this? Help!!

You did the right thing letting the manager know about it. They may chose to investigate - they may chose to do nothing.
If it was drugs, usually someone with a drug habit will start to steal/embezzle from the employer.
It's not your job to investigate what was in the baggie -just to report it. You did the right thing.

If she was done her shift then really that is her business what she does, but why would she be so comfortable in showing you this baggie of drugs, that seems strange!! I don't think your manager really cares too much what she does when she's done work, so I don't think I would have said anything, but I don't think your in trouble for saying anything, she shouldn't have been pulling the baggie out in front of you. I wouldn't say anything else about this to your manager, it only looks like you really want her to get into trouble.

no you did the write thing i would have dont that too. you shouldnt of told anyone that you talk to you manager though but its ok if it is drugs then your manager will know you were the first one to say something and he will know you had nothing to do with it.

I can't judge what you did. I probably would have asked the person, "What's in the baggie?" Depending on her answer, I would have/would not have reported it to the manager.

Well you just accused someone of a serious crime and your not even sure if it was really drugs for all you know it could have just been like baby powder or a foreign cigarette.
