I've answered it before and I'll answer it again.....

YES!!! it is possible... look at the Bulls first and second three-peat, they do not have a legit great big man but they won the NBA championships.

1996 - 98 Chicago Bulls - Luc Longley (not a great big man)
1991 - 93 Chicago Bulls - Bill Cartwright (a role player center)

Got it? Go0d!!!

That would be the main reason the Blazers drafted Oden. Big men win championships its as easy as that. All the main canidates who could win a championship have great big men: Celtics (Garnett), Suns (Amare), Spurs (Duncan), Magic (Howard), Pistons (Rasheed Wallace). The only teams that could possibly win a championship that don't have legit big men would be the Cavs, Lakers and Golden State and that's because each team has an amazing scorer. Still those teams aren't lookin so hot.

As long as MJ did hit threepeat twice, it is possible but, you should have high-caliber big men playing along with. The bigs MJ has include Bill Cartwright, Horace Grant, Luc Longley, Dennis Rodman, Will Perdue, Bison Dele (aka Brian Williams), etc, and despite their stats are not necessarily fancy, they are all proven and able to make significant impact at other teams (Rodman got 2 rings in advance before joining, Perdue added another one at Spurs, Grant one-step shy to receive the 4th in Orlando). That means even without a dominant center, you bigs should at least be able to match those dominant bigs at any time and step up when necessarily.

Their are few dominant big men left in Shaq is on his way out so is Duncan. Dwight Howard, Yao, and Amare Stoudamire, are considered to be the best young big men, and none of them are capable yet of controlling a game like any of the great centers of old. The only one that ever will is Dwight Howard. While I believe that having a dominant big man a team has a better chance of winning a title it is not necessary.

I think it's possible, just difficult these past several years.

But check out 2004...DTT Pistons have Ben and 'Sheed, but Ben has no offensive skeelz whatsoever and 'Sheed sorta plays out on the wing -- don't get me wrong, they are both fantastic players, but they are not what I think of as a 'traditional, dominant big man' (Shaq, Duncan).

Basically, Ben Wallace never touched the ball at DTT...'Sheed mostly got looks on the wing, some on the blocks. When I think of a big man I think of him as the #1 option, and almost always within 8' of the basket.

Yeah but remember MJ's Bulls?

All they had was Jordan, Pippen and Phil Jackson at coach.

Maybe now is the Big Man era?

Could we see a trend? Could the Magic find success like that with Dwight Howard? Only time will tell.

Darth Revan is fake!!! BJ Armstrong became only the starting point guard for the bulls during their 93 ship run. it was john paxson who starts when they won the finals of 91 and 92.

now back to your question, yes its possible. but it will be real hard. the detroit pistons won the 89 and 90 finals with team defense and thomas excellence.

Dude_27 is right. John Paxson started for Chicago at the first half of their championship runs (mostly during their run at the 1991-1992 campaign). So I think you can have it on me. hehe.
