A shillelagh is pronounced like the word you are spelling, but it is defined as (Irish) a cudgel made of hardwood (usually oak or blackthorn). Definitely not a guitar!! Believe you are thinking of the ukelele....a small guitar having 4 strings.

What you're trying to spell I couldn't find in two big dictionaries, and it refers to an Irish club, like a big baseball bat. The last part of the word is spelled 'iegh', I believe, but the first part has me stumped! Best of luck, before someone gives me a shenanny shellackin!
Kitty 39 has it right-shillelagh- and its a foin nick name for a guitar. Begosh and begorragh!
