It's like that for me. I'd like to go to a language school, but it's $40K/yr. to get a Master's degree with a thorough education & training that will prepare you well for your career-that's the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California. It's my dream to go there for training in translating/interpreting. I also need to submerge myself into foreign cultures & countries, but I don't have the money to travel. I'd also like to become a fiction-writer & publish my books in many languages. I'm stuck in a rut here. I'm poor, disabled, & unemployed. With no money, I can't even MOVE to a different city!

what a sad story. yes i do think lack of money holds us back from being all we could be. even when you are employed you are held back because you spend so much of your time on the job or in travel to and from work that you have little time left to be creative. being disabled you might qualify for some govt assist but i am sure you have already checked into that.

Is that School in Monterey The Presidio? I heard of that place before.

Apply FAFSA (Federal Application Financial Student Aid) and check with the college financial aid department for scholarships you may be eligible for. Some of the criteria is a bit out there, nevertheless, you may find one that will suit you.

Also check with them for foreign exchange programs in the countries whose language you are studying. The fiction writer part is more time consuming obviously. You will have to submit samples to various publishing companies.

That should give you a start to make your dreams come true! If all else fails, contact Oprah and tell her your dream. Maybe she can sponsor you. That's a long shot but sometimes you have to dream big!. '

Good luck to you and let me know if you need more info.

Yes, most definitely! If I had the money, I can pay my college tuition fee right now with no problem! Unfortunately, I don't have it and now I may have to wait and start college in the spring since I didn't know a student loan was part of financial aid! I thought I could get a loan on any given day, but obviously that's not the case! I know better now! I feel so stupid though! It was right in front of my face and I didn't even read it!

I believe if you want something enough, you'll find a way to finance it. It's not lack of money that holds me back, but lack of motivation that's the culprit.

Absolutely. I try to make an honest living, but *sigh* to achieve my dreams, I just might have to go back to stripping.

I don't want to.
