I go into Lowes with a baby in my arms, carrying a large diaper bag and holding a 4 yr old's hand and it's raining outside and ask "Are there any carts?" and the girl snobbishly answers "you have to get them out of the parking lot," so I told her that it's ridiculous and of course she gives me another snobbish look.

What the hell? Isn't she at least supposed to say sorry for the inconvenience....I'm tired of looking like a biatch all the time because I feel like I am BOTHERING the employees with my questions!!

Doesn't the training process include customer service or do they skip now?

It's horrendous! I get chills calling any 800# because you have to repeat things over and over to a teenage and they still don't get it. These people need basic listening skills.

Luckily, this rarely happens to me. Usually I am concentrating on what I want or what I am doing so much I don't notice anything unless it is blatantly rude. There have been a few occasions I wanted to ask the cashier at a grocery if anything as wrong because of facial expression or no eye contact. Companies need to continue stressing customer service because the turnover on the front desk, counter, etc. seems to be so high that there are always new people there. I have not bought items at department stores when I couldn't get service but I don't know if they ever realized why they eventually went out of business. So, usually if someone is rude I won't go back because it is embarrassing being the one to take the brunt of their irritation or indifference. That doesn't mean that I haven't done some very stupid things as a customer - messing up the credit card thingy is one, and having to ask for an item on the grocery shelf when it is right where I am - but stores that act like I am a valued customer at that moment have me coming back. If the pretzel girl did that more than once, I'd contact the manager or parent company. I'd do that because I write or call sometimes when the service is good or someone has gone out of their way for me. I did go into a store which sold a very expensive new kind of shoe. The ad said that they determine if you are walking better with the shoe on, all sorts of personal service. The clerk hardly spoke. When I asked if they had a particular shoe in a leather like another style she said no. Not she'd check or what else could she do for me. I had to ask her about my walking. She said she watched when I walked in. She showed no interest in me or my purchase or the guy with me. I ended up leaving and buying another type of expensive new kind of shoe later on at another store. I should have called the owner but vacillated between great irritation and who cares long enough I never got around to doing it. That's why companies are going out of business. I haven't heard any ads for the store lately. I wonder if they are still around. Just checked. They are. I'd love to go in again when I'm in the area and see if Ms Nothing Doing is still there.

Well to some 'helping' a customer retrieve a cart from the parking lot is not in their job description. A lot of customer service is common sense can't teach that.
