I agree --- leaving the Wings has killed a few careers (Primeau, Federov, etc.) and joining them has rejuvinated more than a few. Some of it was simply Federov getting older, but he needed the quality of players around him to stay a star.

It's not a mistake when the organization you were with doesn't offer you a 'real' contract.

Oh, he turned 38 last Thursday.............not many 100 point scorers after their 38th birthday (only 2 in history in fact)

Sergei and Tara? Lucky Sergei!

Yes it was a mistake. He went from a team that's made the playoffs for the last 16 years to a team that has never been close to the playoffs. He played better when he was on a winning team, when he had guys like Yzerman and McCarty feeding him the puck

He wanted to be the man, when he got to the Ducks, he realized, alot of Wings players took the heat off him. He is not a real huge scorer, outside of that one big year, he is really only average. He is a very talented skater, great defensive player, when he feels like it. I cant call it a mistake, he got what he wanted.

Wasn't the Red Wings that messed up his brain, he has never been the same since Anna Kournikova divorced his butt.

Proven moron and bungler,he will continue his downward spiral.Much like Derek Saunders,it's too late for poor,multi-millionaire Sergei. He will now party it all away and end up snivelling it all out to Oprah.

He was never a really good player.
Its easy to be good when you have the highest payroll in the league for 5 years.
He had so many good players around him.
