1.put small sections of it into false bottoms of drawers.
2. set up a security system by establising a current of electricity. But stick a rubber peice on the bottom of the false drawer to interupt it . Stick a oil bag to the current so if the current connects it brsts into flames and add gunpowder to make the person who looked go BOOM.
put a small whole in the bottom of the drawer then have a PLASTIC peice that will interupt the current if you stick it in though the bottom to keep the oil from going up in flames.
3. This keep anyone from finding the gems evan if the gems are found the peron who found them goes bye bye and the gems stay alive and so do I.
in the end the perfect way to hide stolen articles.
btw why did you ask did you steal a truckful of gems ad gold from the mafia if so a ... hope , this helps * gulp*

Bury it somewhere safe and dry. Probably some place in the National Forest. Where it will remain undeveloped for generations. Map and mark using GPS technology.

granting they don't know you and how your trunk look like, relax and have a life! Take it easy, nothing drastic in terms of lifestyle.Take those gems to any third world country to get it set according to how you want to wear them. You don't need to sell them anyways considering you have a trunkful of money already. Sharing in this case can be dangerous for your safety, so feel free to be greedy.

ugh what I learn from No Country for Old Man is that you don't take money that don't belong to you because you will have a crazy psycho merc (or mafia) on your tail the rest of your life. Can you buy peace of mine?

I would bury it in the backyard and invest a few hundred every month/week. Retire by 50 and no one the wiser.
I live in the middle of nowhere. I could just pour it out in the back yard and no one would see it.
