Im trying to get into day trading, and my previous experience was with a game like system that completed a trade (order placed to when it showed up in my holdings) in 20 minutes. I dont know much about the online platforms but is this a realistic amount of time to expect a trade to happen in? If not, what is the absolute fastest i would be able to execute a trade on a program like TD Ameritrade, or what is the fastest platfrom around?

Ameritrade executes in maybe a second, not counting the time (maybe a second if you're fast) to enter the trade. Anything less is totally unacceptable.

The ONLY people who make money from day trading in the long run are the people that CHARGE others for day trading lessons. They have long ago learned that actually trading ALWAYS costs money.
