sci-fi freaks: what movie had AI which turned on man?

because it realized that in order to save the planet, man had to be exterminated. The robot wasn't sinister, it had good manners installed, it was just using logic.

...perhaps the 1970 sci-fi thriller, "Colossus, the Forbin Project"??? Sounds a lot like it...
