i know im smart and could do well in college and get a good job but will that period in my life mean i won't get into college now? even if my grades are back higher?

You will get into college, although you might have to settle for somewhat less competitive colleges than you might have otherwise gone to. Depression is a bear - I hope you found a solution which worked for you so that should it hit again, you will know what to do.

I'm assuming that you've been treated and/or that somehow the depression has lifted. I hope so, and if so, congratulations. It must be nice to feel better.

Potential colleges will put your high school years in perspective. You will certainly be able to tell them about your struggle with depression and the impact it had on you.

If your grades improve, your test scores are solid, your letters of recommendation and essay are very good/excellent, you should be fine.
